Historical Beginning of the Four Freedoms Foundation In March of 2009 three men met for the first time to discuss the formation of an organization dedicated to the principal of promoting patriotism. We believe that our nation has moved far away from the principles our founding fathers delivered in the Declaration of Independence. During our history many great men and women have labored to produce a framework of laws so that we might live as a free nation It was felt that todays youth are not truly aware of the sacrifices that have been made so that they may enjoy the freedoms they have come to expect. Many do not have an appreciation of the history of our Country. It is to that end that the Four Freedoms Foundation came into existence. The president, a retired military officer, had served four tours of duty in the Middle East. He knows first hand of the sacrifices our military has made to preserve our freedom. It was also felt that the way to a better understanding is through community awareness and the education of our youth. Such is the beginning of a organization that since that date has received numerous contributions from local residents. A scholarship committee was formed and an outstanding senior for the Class of 2010 was named the first reciepient of the Four Freedoms Foundation Scholarship. Through this past year many activities have been put in place to bring to the public and schools the awareness for renewed patriotism. This is the mission of the Four Freedoms Foundation.
